MESSAGE FOR THE WEEK OF 9-15-19

DO YOU LOVE JESUS? KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS.

John 14:15 If you love me, keep my commandments.

The LORD GOD makes it very clear in His Word that He desires for us to be obedient to Him. This passage in the book of John provides us an account of JESUS instructing His disciples that if they truly loved Him they would keep His commandments. For those of us who say we love The LORD and declare JESUS CHRIST as our LORD and SAVIOR, this instruction is for us as well. Many people state that they love JESUS, but continue to do things their own way instead of following the directions The LORD has given us in His Word. YOU CANNOT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS!
In GOD’S Word,Galatians 6:8 the apostle Paul states: For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

We are clothed in flesh and therefore have a fleshly nature. In 1 John 3:8 GOD’S Word states: He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Having a relationship with JESUS CHRIST and following His ways is a total commitment of your life. You can’t attend a “church service” on the weekend, sing a few songs, listen to a message, attend a prayer meeting or bible study, and think you fulfilled your obligation for the remainder of the week ahead. The LORD GOD has Created us in His image and did not want us to perish in our sins; therefore, He has blessed us with His only-begotten Son, JESUS CHRIST, who is without sin. JESUS freely laid His life down for us, took our sins upon Himself and died on the cross for ALL of us. He arose from the grave on the third day and has given us the victory over eternal death in the depths of hell through His Resurrection!
The book of Galatians 2:20 provides a clear instruction of what our love for JESUS CHRIST should be when Paul states: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Consider any significant relationship you may have right now, whether it be with your parents, siblings, friends, spouse. Don’t you desire to spend as much time as possible with that person and learn as much as you can about them? This is what The LORD GOD desires for us to do with Him. To spend more time with Him by confessing our sins and repenting and turning from them, accepting JESUS CHRIST as our LORD and SAVIOR, getting baptized, and spending daily time with Him in prayer and reading our bible. The more time we spend doing these things, the more we will understand The LORD and His plan for our lives.

In 1 Peter 4:6 GOD’S Word states: For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
Those that are not following The LORD’S ways are considered dead, spiritually dead. But we are blessed with a free-will to choose spiritual life through JESUS CHRIST.
Living a life devoted to obedience to The LORD GOD is certainly not easy because our fleshly nature is going to war against our spiritual nature. In Galatians 5:17 GOD’S Word states: For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. Satan does not want us to follow JESUS CHRIST so he will use any means possible to keep us from doing that. He knows he can never be forgiven, but we have the hope of forgiveness when we repent, turn from our sins, and accept JESUS CHRIST as our LORD and SAVIOR. This is why ridiculous concepts such as evolution and the big bang theory are so popular. The people who devised this wickedness decided their intellect was bigger than the wisdom of The LORD GOD, the very One who Created them!
Well, guess what, Satan, then Lucifer, attempted this as well and decided He was going to make himself equal with The LORD GOD, who created him. He was cast out of heaven for his rebellion and is now the devil who is condemned to spend eternity in hell. Do you think The LORD would treat anyone else differently who rebels against Him? The more fleshly we are by reasoning within our own minds instead of having faith in JESUS CHRIST, the more we think our way is better than The LORD’S Way, the tougher struggle we will have in our daily lives.

The book of Romans, chapter seven, provides us a good insight into the struggle we endure when we desire to follow JESUS CHRIST. In Romans 7:18 the apostle Paul is inspired by The HOLY SPIRIT to state the following: For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
In the book of Romans 8:6-7, Paul continues as GOD’S Word states: For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
In the book of Romans 8:31 GOD’S Word states: What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
Wow, this says it all – If The LORD GOD is on our side – He has our back- EVERY TIME!
Once we decide to follow JESUS CHRIST, The LORD knows our hearts and if we truly have a desire to draw closer to Him, The LORD will equip us for every obstacle we encounter. We need to keep our focus on JESUS CHRIST and take our focus off of things of the world. The important thing to remember is where you want to spend eternity. Your decision today will determine your final destination. In the book of 1 Corinthians 15:50 GOD’S Word states: Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
The LORD GOD has blessed all of us with our free-will choice because He desires for us to come to Him freely, not to be forced. This is a demonstration of true love. However, The LORD GOD is a jealous GOD and will not share His glory with anyone or anything else. You cannot serve your flesh and The LORD GOD at the same time. This is something for all of us to consider when we decide where we want to spend eternity.
I pray that The LORD GOD blesses you with wisdom and understanding of His Word, In the Name of JESUS CHRIST I pray, Amen.
