Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
The book of Acts in The LORD GOD’S Word provides us accounts of the Body of Christ advancing the kingdom of GOD as JESUS CHRIST instructed them to do in Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
We who are saved and have believed on JESUS CHRIST as our LORD and SAVIOR, have repented and turned from our sins, have been baptized as JESUS CHRIST did by being immersed in the water, and totally commit our lives to follow JESUS CHRIST are indeed the Body of Christ. We are commissioned as well to go and teach everyone that The LORD GOD brings into our pathway the complete truth of the LORD GOD’S Holy Word and to baptize them once they have repented and turned to JESUS CHRIST. We are to reflect the character of JESUS CHRIST as His disciples did. They spent personal time with JESUS CHRIST when they walked the earth with Him. We who are saved may not have spent physical time with JESUS CHRIST but the more time we spend studying our bibles and praying to The LORD, we are with JESUS CHRIST in spirit.
As we read the accounts in the book of Acts the true followers of JESUS CHRIST were filled with The HOLY SPIRIT and were bold in their faith, they did not allow worldly fear and threats to overtake them. They did not allow beatings or imprisonment to paralyze them. They continued in the oneness of faith as the Body of Christ and displayed the character of JESUS CHRIST, having compassion and trusting ONLY in The LORD GOD for their provision. This level of faith can only be achieved when we are completely sold out to JESUS CHRIST and all people see within us is JESUS CHRIST and not our fleshly man.
In Acts chapter four, The LORD GOD provides us the account of Peter and John being arrested by the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, who were considered the “religious elite” at that time. These people were blinded by legalism and were not focused on the only truth of the hope of forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life through the blood of JESUS CHRIST. They were focused on their political positions of authority and did not want to lose their place in the chain of command. They were offended by the GOOD NEWS. This reminds me of the apostate church of today, where false teachers and preachers abound. They add to and take from The LORD GOD’S Word, they focus on entertaining people instead of instilling the Word of GOD into them, they don’t want to offend anyone so they preach a “prosperity” or “feel-good” message to scratch itching ears, and they focus on the tithe. Because of the lukewarmness of the “church” today many people have fallen away and have turned to these false messages because they are too lazy to spend time with The LORD GOD themselves and the faith they once had has been uprooted. These people will have no person to blame on judgment day since The LORD GOD has blessed all of us with our free will to choose wisely or unwisely.
2 Timothy 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
The “religious elite” were threatened by the miracle the people witnessed when Peter who was equipped by the power of The HOLY SPIRIT, healed the lame man as we read in Acts chapter three and were grieved at Peter and John for preaching the truth to others as we read in Acts 4:2-3 Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead. And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide. Despite the worldliness that attempted to destroy the testimony of Peter and John, the LORD GOD prevailed, as He ALWAYS does! We read in Acts 4:4 Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.
Continuing in verses 6-7 the “good ole boys” which were Annas, Caiaphas, John, Alexander, along with the other kindred of the high priest assembled themselves together in Jerusalem to confront Peter and John as GOD’S Word states: And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem. And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this? The apostle Peter was filled with The HOLY SPIRIT and responded to them in this manner as we read in verses 8-12: Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole: Be it known unto you all and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Wow, these men were taken by surprise of the HOLY SPIRIT filled words spoken by Peter to them and they marvelled at this. In verses 13-14 GOD’S Word states: Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. Of course these men did not want others to hear of the marvellous works of healing through the power of The HOLY SPIRIT, they wanted to put a stop to others hearing the life-changing GOOD NEWS of JESUS CHRIST. This is much like what happens in today’s society all over the world with those who either knowingly or unknowingly allow themselves to be used by the devil to bring oppression to those who follow JESUS CHRIST and share The LORD GOD’S Holy Word with others. These “religious elite” had a conference among themselves as we read in verses 15-17 when GOD’S Word states: But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, Saying, what shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it. But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.
Did mere men who proclaimed to have worldly authority influence Peter and John to stop sharing the GOOD NEWS of JESUS CHRIST? Absolutely not, and neither should any of us who profess that we are saved! In Acts 4:19-20 GOD’S Word states: But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. After Peter and John spoke these words they were threatened further and then they were released and The LORD GOD was glorified through this account. The wisdom of man is foolishness to The LORD GOD and what is wisdom to The LORD GOD is considered foolishness to those who are not following JESUS CHRIST. That is because they are spiritually blind, spiritually deaf, and spiritually dumb. They do not have the wisdom of The LORD GOD given them by His HOLY SPIRIT because they choose to remain in the darkness of the world and allow their thoughts to be guided by their flesh and the devil, who is the prince of this world.
1 Corinthians 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
Folks, we see The LORD GOD’S prophecy unfolding before us right now all over the world. We are the generation that JESUS CHRIST spoke to His disciples about in Matthew 24:34 when JESUS CHRIST states: Verifly I say unto you; This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
This means all of these signs we have been warned about, earthquakes, famines, pestilences, falling away of the church, perversion, nation rising against nation, extreme weather, people turning against one another, false teachers and preachers and prophets, the abomination of catholicism proclaiming a one world religion, and so much more, are all happening RIGHT NOW, at the same time. We are to continue to be strong in our faith and be bold. We are to continue to share the GOOD NEWS of JESUS CHRIST and not allow worldly fear to paralyze us, we are to constantly trust in The LORD GOD and follow the leading and guiding of The HOLY GHOST! Anything else is not good enough!
Remember it is not about us but about bringing glory to GOD The FATHER by lifting up JESUS CHRIST and leading those who are not saved to Him. BE BOLD AND DON’T GIVE UP.
